“Shooting Star”
From darkness into hope and light, Shooting Star honors the work of young artists who gave voice to the depth of human emotion before their untimely passing.
At the heart of the exhibition is Gypsy Cadillac co-founder Valarie Allyn Bienas, whose personal story brings profound meaning to the collection.
After the loss of her son, Z, to an accidental overdose, Valarie experienced a deep transformation in both her life and her art. Shooting Star stands as a courageous reflection on the human experience — life, loss, love, and faith.
The inaugural exhibition featured artwork by Valarie’s son, Z, alongside pieces by Jordan Watts, the late brother of actor and singer-songwriter Kelsie Watts, who lost his battle with depression at a young age. It also included a dedicated wall of loaned works from other “Shooting Stars”, expanding the exhibition into a shared space of remembrance and expression.
In addition, Gypsy Cadillac partnered with The Onsite Foundation’s Life After Loss Program, donating all profits from the show to support this important cause.
